Academy Gambardella Cup

The U18s triumphed on penalties to reach the last four (1-1; 4-2 on penalties).

Encouraged by more than 8,000 supporters at Roazhon Park on Sunday afternoon, William Stanger's players gave their all in the second half to equalise against OGC Nice and then make the difference in the penalty shoot-out. They now head to the Gambardella Cup semi-finals in Auxerre on 20 April.

HIGHLIGHTS :
12th: Samuel Ledain, in the centre of the park, shoots hard, but it goes over.

13th: Steeve Mvodo puts in a precise shot that the Nice goalkeeper turns away with the tip of his gloves.

14th: From the corner, Steeve Mvodo again manages to get in front of his defender, but his header only goes inches wide.

25th: Jah Mason Telusson gets in the way but still manages to threaten Ayoub Akabou, who is solid enough to stop the cross-shot.

26th: A well-placed free-kick for the Rouge et Noir from 22 metres out. Steeve Movodo steps up to shoot, but the ball is cleared off the line by Nice.

34th: Nice's Iliesse Salhi inherits the ball on the left-hand side of the box and from the left he sends in a beautiful half-volley. Ayoub Akabou is surprised. 0-1

51st: Dangerous cross from Yassine Aiche. Fortunately for Rennes, Jah Mason Telusson is just a metre short of the goal and has a chance to break the deadlock.

54e : Stadistes take a free-kick. Samuel Ledain boxed the ball in with both fists and sent a powerful right-foot shot 18 metres out, but it was blocked.

56th: Lucas Rosier goes solo to destabilise the Rennes defence. His right-footed curler almost found the far corner of the net.

62nd: Following a loose ball, Djibril Coulibaly from Nice has free rein to shoot. His shot was slightly blocked by the referee and missed the target.

71st: Ruben Lomet heads in from a corner. Rennes are back on level terms. 1-1
