A victory born of patience

“It’s a victory that was built over time. Marseille have quality and we had to give a bit more. They’re skilful on the ball and they caused us problems on the break. The idea was to spread out a bit more and stretch them, particularly with Mousa coming on. To beat this team, we needed to bring a lot of different elements to the game, and we managed to make the difference. I think the players put in a very good second half.

That’s ten points, that’s for sure, and it’s a positive result. It was a good idea to keep our first clean sheet tonight. ”

“You saw his performance just as clearly as I did. His defensive and attacking work rate, his tactical intelligence. He scored the only goal – it was an outstanding performance. He’s a player I’m lucky enough to still be able to coach, a leader by example.”
