Reactions from the manager, Estéban and Brice following the SRFC v PSG match

« If you’d asked me at the final whistle, the disappointment at not having won would have been the overriding feeling. But I look first and foremost at the match as a whole and what happened during it; that’s how we need to analyse it. In terms of what we set out to do, we managed to achieve a number of things.

Against this sort of opponent, as soon as you let up on one aspect – marking, defensive depth – you can find yourself in trouble. Overall, we played a good match and even had the chance to make it 3–2; in fact, I thought it had gone in.

We were compact in closing down the centre; there was intensity and precision in our attacking transitions. We knew we wouldn’t be in a set-piece attacking situation for the whole match. I take away a lot of positives from tonight’s match. »


Estéban Lepaul 

« Regrets, yes – that’s what I saw on the team’s faces in the changing room. The coach immediately calmed everyone down by saying it was the first match and that there were plenty of positives to take from the performance against a top-class side. We tried to do our best and I think we did very well in many phases of the game. Unfortunately, against teams like that, even small mistakes aren’t forgiven. But I’m very proud of what the team achieved tonight. »


Brice Samba

« We’ve got a new World Champion in our Ligue 1. We saw all his qualities, although I think those two goals could easily have been avoided – down to a lack of concentration or stamina. All in all, it was a fine performance against the two-time European champions. We’ve got our first points on the board. We wanted to win, especially when we were leading 2–0, but we’re not going to be picky. We’re obviously disappointed, but we’re moving on. »
