Tonight, Les Tombées de la Nuit and Swiss artist Massimo Furlan will take over the Rennes stadium to re-enact "The Nightmare of Seville" with fourteen amateur actors. A tragedy in two acts with extra time, in partnership with Stade Rennais F.C., which will take you back to the legendary semi-final of 82.

40 years after the France-Germany match at the 1982 Football World Cup, Le Cauchemar de Séville is back! To bring the legendary semi-final back to life, Swiss artist Massimo Furlan has invented this "tragedy in two acts with extra time", which will be performed on the pitch at Roazhon Park with fourteen local accomplices and the two commentators, Vincent Simonneaux and Cyrille L'Helgoualch. This involving theatrical adventure will meticulously re-enact, without a ball and without opponents, the movements, actions and dramas of this exceptionally dramatic sporting choreography.

On the pitch at Roazhon Park, fourteen local residents and two commentators will re-enact the French part of the match in performance, reliving the intensity of one hundred and twenty minutes of a battle of heightened tension and exceptional drama, culminating in a Dantesque penalty shoot-out. In the course of this involving human adventure, and the long preparatory immersion work that began in November 2019, Massimo Furlan examines the intimate and collective memory of this match, which has become an epic tale handed down from generation to generation.

Re-enacting the movements, actions and dramas as accurately as possible, without a ball and without opponents.

Meticulously reconstructing the sporting choreography with amateur players and passionate locals, who have become a new "France 82 team". Bringing back to life the heroic names of Hidalgo, Platini, Rocheteau, Bossis, Giresse, Tigana and Amoros. Seeing the action, the dreams, the hopes, the disappointment and the injustice come to life, commented on live by commentators Vincent Simonneaux and Cyrille L'Helgoualch, seated in the middle of the audience... That's Massimo Furlan's challenge with this Seville Nightmare.

This work on football and memory follows on from his previous works Furlan / Numero 23 (2002) and Numéro 10 (2006), in which he donned Platini's shirt in the middle of the Parc des Princes. After Nocturne (2017), Blue Tired Heroes (2018) and Hospitalités (2019), Massimo Furlan continues his wonderful adventure with Les Tombées de la Nuit.

In partnership with Stade Rennais Football Club, the association La Tour d'Auvergne, CREA - Université Rennes 2, Ker Aqua, the restaurant Léon le Cochon, and Canal B.
