Trained in the Parisian football leagues of PSG in Drancy, Villejuif and PFC, Issa Habri chose to join the Rouge et Noir training centre in 2021. The native of Les Lilas moved to Brittany at the age of 15 and quickly made his mark as a consistent and dynamic defender, capable of delivering the knockout blow in his lane.

Finalist in the U20 World Cup

By the time he turned professional, his name was already well known among Breton fans. In the final of the Challenge Espoirs between Rennes and Monaco, it was Issa, set up by Nordan Mukiele, who struck first, beating Jules Stawiecki with a precise left-footed shot. The Moroccan had just returned from the U20 World Cup, where he won silver with the Lionceaux de l'Atlas, and was brimming with confidence after a victorious run to the final, where they suffered a narrow defeat to South Africa.

Issa Habri :
« I have been waiting for this moment and I am very happy to sign my first professional contract and make my family proud. This is just the beginning; I want to progress, play and take to the pitch at Roazhon Park. I grew up in Rennes and I feel Breton; this is my second family here (smile). I am delighted that my development is coming to fruition in this way. I'm proud and grateful to be at Stade Rennais. »

Denis Arnaud, Director of the Academy:
« Issa continues to progress. After his trainee contract, he has now signed his first professional contract. He is a player with top-level qualities: he is fast and capable of sustained effort. This is a great reward for Issa, highlighting his potential. He must continue to work hard. We now expect him to develop emotional stability so that he can continue to grow and perform well.»
