A wonderful day for the Stade Rennais F.C. Women’s Team! This fifth round of the French Cup, against En Avant Guingamp, a second-division side, lived up to all expectations.
Level at halftime (2–2), Rennes and Guingamp battled fiercely throughout the second half. After falling behind 3–2, David Mounivong’s players managed to equalize, then take the lead, before being caught again at the very end of the match. With the score at 4–4 after regulation time, qualification came down to penalties. Thanks in particular to Nine Conan, outstanding in goal, the Red and Black overturned EAG and secured their place in the 6th round of the French Cup.
For this second federal round, scheduled for the weekend of December 13/14, SRFC will travel to the Paris region to face Red Star, who defeated Versailles this Sunday.
