Regrets

“Firstly, looking at the way the game unfolded, at what we were sorely lacking in the opening ten minutes and throughout the first half. Active defending, winning the 50-50 balls, winning possession… We were too far off the mark in that first half. It’s still hard to envisage a different outcome when things are like that against such excellent players.”

Sixth in Ligue 1

“It comes down to goal difference, and being just a few points behind third and fourth shows what we still need to aim for, even if some matches aren’t necessarily decided by a balance of power. When we lose, it means there are things we need to improve, even though I take a lot of positives from these three months.” »

“The message is that he then managed to make crucial saves, playing to his strengths. Mathys works hard, he’s balanced and intelligent. In top-level professional football, it’s demanding, but he’ll bounce back. It’s all part of the learning process. I don’t hold it against him. »

“We’re in 6th place after 34 matchdays. We’re one of the teams that fought right to the end for places 3 to 6. That means there’s quality in this squad, but we’re still missing certain things. That can be addressed through hard work and by bringing in a few players who can add something extra.”

«We got off to a terrible start; we know that’s exactly what we mustn’t do here. They try to get the crowd behind them right from the start. We’ve set the bar high for ourselves today because we could have done better, especially given tonight’s results.
