Franck Haise : « Disappointment prevails »

His thoughts

“Disappointment is the overriding feeling; there was a chance to win given the way the match unfolded. At 0–0 or 1–0, the outlook is very different, even though it’s the same match. Against a compact opponent, you have to score.”

Points to be won

“We could have played more combination football by using the width of the pitch; we didn’t stretch the opposition’s back line enough. Obviously, these were two points we were hoping for, and I think we deserved them, especially after the defeat against Lille. So we’ll have to make up for them one way or another, starting with the match in Brest, one of the Breton derbies.”

Precision

“We got the stadium fired up a bit, but too late. I take my share of the blame. I’d told them not to be impatient. Metz had just conceded four goals; they needed to steady themselves. I suspected they wouldn’t come out open. We had to do it intelligently; we lacked precision. We need to score at least one goal. The result isn’t satisfactory. Even in the 88th minute with a goal, everyone would have said it was a deserved victory.”

The situation involving Ludovic Blas

“The goalkeeper’s challenge was strange. I’ve seen penalties given in situations like this. Refereeing is a very difficult job. In situations that seem similar to us, the decisions aren’t always the same. In any case, Ludovic was struck on the ankle during the challenge.”

The start

“I told the players to attack very strongly, and that’s exactly what didn’t happen. We needed to be focused on what we had to do. We felt a bit of technical hesitation at the start of the match.”
