2025 was a successful year for Stade Rennais F.C. in the Gambardella Cup, with the Rouge et Noir winning the competition for the fourth time. Playing in central defense alongside William Stanger and surrounded by a host of players from the 2007 generation, Ruben Lomet rose through the ranks. Whether against Nice in the quarterfinals, Auxerre in the semifinals, or Dijon in the final, the Saint-Malo native took part in all of these high-stakes matches. In the duel with Les Aiglons, he scored a decisive goal to revive his team, which had been struggling since the opening goal. A precise and technical left-footed player, the defender played an active role in winning the trophy.

A member of the Red and Blacks since 2019 after starting his training in Corsica, Ruben Lomet is gradually climbing the ranks. Regularly called up to the French youth team (27 caps) and captain of Les Tricolores at the U17 World Cup in the fall, the Breton also made his debut in Nationale 3 this season. Having been promoted last year, he will also be a valuable asset in the Coupe Gambardella. On Thursday, the 1.85-meter defender signed his first professional contract, which runs until 2029, proof of the confidence shown in him. Congratulations Ruben.

Denis Arnaud, Director of the Academy :
« This first professional contract is a logical next step for Ruben. Since joining the club at the age of 11, he has worked hard, listened carefully, and shown great discipline. At his age, he already has a wealth of experience, notably with his success in the Gambardella Cup and his participation in the U17 World Cup with the French national team. Ruben is a calm player with a good left foot and the ability to contribute offensively. He also has room for improvement in terms of leadership and aggressiveness. This season, he will be one of the key players on the team competing in the Gambardella Cup. I would also like to highlight the listening skills and trustworthiness of Ruben's family. »

Ruben Lomet :
« It's a source of great pride for me and my family, who have made many sacrifices. I'd like to thank the club for placing their trust in me. I used to come to Roazhon Park with my dad and brother, and I've been a fan of the club since I was a child. When Stade Rennais called me for the very first time, it was a magical moment. Signing my first professional contract was a dream come true, but today it is just one step; there is still more to achieve. I will continue to work hard so that one day I can train with the professional team and play at Roazhon Park. »
