A taste of frustration

"Yes, we're frustrated. Despite everything, we lost this match in the 85th minute, so I'm going to assume that we earned that point. I think we should have won given our superiority, but we made a small defensive error that left us exposed. We had to put in a lot of energy to come back. Our ambition means we're disappointed with the result, but a season is also built on these kinds of matches."

A difficult match to get going

"The first half was less successful. We were up against an opponent who didn't play, with very long balls that required us to start from very low down. We lacked creativity, that's what we were missing. As time went on, we had a little more space, but they also disrupted the game a lot, committing fouls that could have been penalised. It wasn't an easy match in terms of pace. We managed to come back, but the mistake we made on the opposition's goal shouldn't have happened. We need to be more proactive in this kind of situation. We were punished for a goal that wasn't necessarily well constructed. We didn't give up and we made changes to make an impact. It's a point we have to take."

Lack of offensive efficiency

‘We lacked efficiency, even though we had two goals disallowed for offside. We also had two opportunities with Kader where he could have scored, but that's how it goes sometimes; success isn't always guaranteed. I didn't think the opposition would sit so deep. The coach wanted to go for the draw.’

A new signing to bring creativity?

‘That's the goal. We also need this competition to push some players to be even more demanding of themselves, to take this rivalry even further. We also had players who stepped up, particularly in midfield with Valentin Rongier, Mahdi Camara and Quentin Merlin. After that, we need to be more clinical to convert our chances. We need to do better.’

Ludovic Blas' return

‘He brought technical and creative qualities. It's in games like these that we expect players like Ludo' to step up. He had an impact in the middle of the pitch and on the wing. But he also lacked precision in his final move. He needs to show this side of his game for 90 minutes, not just as an impact player.’

A setback in this season?

"No. When we lost in Paris, we were able to bounce back and identify what was good in our game. We were very dominant today. However, what we lack compared to the teams at the top of the table is that they win these games. We mustn't question everything either, the momentum remains positive. It's up to us to look at what didn't work tonight so we can be better against Lorient."

The team gathered in the centre of the pitch at the final whistle

‘I saw that they were very upset, and I don't want us to take that disappointment back to the stadium. We have to accept the frustration and realise that we also earned a point. It's important to keep our heads up.’
