A Late Reaction

“We started the game nervously, lacking initiative and impact. We had possession early on but without being threatening enough in attack — we were too academic. The first goal caught us cold — it was a magnificent strike. The second one is, for me, inexplicable. With the tools we have, I don’t understand how we don’t go back to review that handball, which clearly gives Jonathan Clauss an advantage. That goal hurt us, especially as it came right before half-time.

I’m proud of what my players did in the second half. With a bit more luck, we deserved to come back to 2–2.”

Impact of the Substitutes

“Our substitutes made a real difference. There was only one team on the pitch in the second half. We were unlucky too — Kader’s goal was ruled out for just a few centimeters. But that’s football, and football doesn’t lie — the goal was offside.”

A Lackluster First Half

“As a team — and for some players in particular — we were too tight and hesitant offensively. We lacked initiative in positions where it’s needed. We changed things right away after the break, with more quality in wide play and crossing. We also switched to a back three, with Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal showing real character and personality in a tough match.

With all those changes, we controlled the game and created clear chances. I had asked my players for one thing: to win the second half. It’s hard to see our second goal disallowed — we deserved to come back.”

Supporters’ Frustration

“The fans called us over, and we went to greet them. I’m open to talking with them, but not in the heat of the moment — it wouldn’t be constructive. Football is a spectacle; they have every right to question what we show on the pitch. But I believe those discussions should happen calmly, with perspective.

It hasn’t been a good start to the season in terms of results, and this defeat doesn’t help us regain positive momentum.”
